An independant approval panel is required by regulation.
The main role of the panel is to consider proposals to approve prospective adult placement providers and to consider proposals to change the status of existing providers.
Our panel members are recruited through advertising and word of mouth and are all completely independant of the scheme. Members are given training on their role and on the skills and attributes they are looking for in an adult placement provider. Panel members are normally appointed for a period of three years.
We have a pool of panel members from which any panel is drawn. Each panel is made up of 5 people, one of whom is the approval panel chairperson. We aim to have representation from different stakeholder groups to include voluntary/partner organisations, providers, trustees, care professionals and carers.
The main requirement of panel members are that they are non judgemental, able to look at things objectively and fairly and work within agreed structures and processes as part of a team of people.
