Vacancy T100\CS
Area Paignton
Details A Victorian semi-detached house full of bargains and treasures including two older ladies who are looking for a female companion to join them! They have a busy schedule which includes keep fit, paddling in the sea, pottery and knitting, keeping up with the SOAPS and seeing how many coffee mornings they can attend (free refreshments at local churches etc). The money they save on the coffee can come in handy for purchasing nick-knacks when they go with the providers to auctions, car boot sales and the tip!!

They enjoy some involvement with the local church and the Salvation Army.

The house is well maintained and cosy and there is a place for everything – the garage is usually full of bargains! On a more practical note there is a stair lift and the environment is wheelchair friendly. There are five bedrooms, some en-suite.

It is the place to be if you are an animal lover who enjoys socialising, rabbits and cats are in residence and the providers have hosted SWAPS coffee mornings and they hold a monthly social evening for older people.

The providers have a particular interest in dolls houses and also clocks and fixing things. They have a wealth of experience in care and have the necessary sense of humour!

Nearby amenities include the sea, beach, zoo, shops, leisure centres, parks and churches.

(long term or short break)

Area Torquay
Details

These providers are new to SWAPS and can offer either a short term or long term placement they are very experienced in providing care for older people (approx 12 years experience of running a residential home) and they are also quite skilled and interested in supporting a person with learning disabilities.

They live in Torquay and are very close to local amenities such as the harbour, beach, shops theatre and restaurants.  There are also churches of all denominations, libraries and a museum.  The area is lively with community events.

The providers live with their 13 year old son and they have frequent visits from their older children and two young grandchildren, consequently it is not a quiet house neither is it chaotic - just lively.

The house has a really warm welcoming atmosphere and it is situated in a cul-de-sac which is quiet however it is up quite a steep hill, indoors it is spacious with both upstairs and downstairs bedrooms which are all en–suite.

There is also a large flat garden with decking, an aviary and a vegetable patch.  They have a Boxer dog who is old and good tempered and also a small parrot who talks.

A man would fit in well and possibly be company for the gentleman who currently lives there.  He is interested in TV and snooker and he goes out to the shops and café’s daily.  The providers husband is a chef and there would be the opportunity to re-visit or learn daily living skills such as cooking, gardening and shopping.

Restrictions Preference for a person who is reasonably physically able who could enjoy their brand of family life and who would like to get out and about either independently or accompanied by the provider/providers.
