This Provider lives in a large semi-detached house on a main road on the outskirts of Newquay. They live on a main bus route with the beach only a few hundred yards away: in fact some of the rooms have a view of Porth beach. There is a choice of bedrooms all of which are en suite – and one is on the ground floor.
The Provider has a lifetime’s experience in care work and is qualified to NVQ 3 level. Her experience is primarily in care homes and community care for older people, people with dementia and those with physical needs. Her experience and knowledge is such that she would be able to provide care and support to any of the above client group, those with a mild learning disability and younger people who want to learn life skills to be able to live more independently.
This lady and her husband also currently provide a B&B service so any carer, family member or friend would be welcome to utilise this facility while their loved one was in placement with the Provider. There is ample parking at the front of the property and there is a lovely south facing garden with decking area.
The household has one medium sized dog and they would welcome any service user who wanted to bring their own dog with them.
There are two vacancies: one long term and one short term. The short term vacancy is linking in with the new SWAPS dementia respite service in Newquay, although referrals are welcome from any geographical area.

She lives with her husband and grown up son in a large bungalow in Illogan Highway. It is tucked away from the main road and has a large garden looking up towards Carn Brea.
They have two rescue dogs – black and white collies – who love attention. The house is bright and spacious and all on one level. It is very close (walking distance) to Morrison’s and the leisure centre which has a large swimming pool. The bus stops for Redruth, Camborne and Truro are a few yards from the house.
This provider could support a wide range of needs but is quite interested in supporting people to develop independent living skills with a view to helping them move on to more independent living. Between them, family members enjoy walking, cycling, squash, running and swimming. Also theatre trips, cinema etc.
They have a daughter and baby grand daughter nearby who often pop in to visit.

The family (husband and wife) have many years experience of working under the fostering children scheme and have now become adult placement providers licensed for 3 service users. The family have many years experience of supporting someone with mental health issues in their own home and the provider has experience of supporting adults with learning disabilities. She also has a lifetime of specialising in handling safeguarding adults issues in the courtroom and legal circles.
This vacancy wouldn’t suit anyone with significant mobility issues as the bedroom is upstairs. The family would also prefer a service user that could join in with a fairly active lifestyle – they enjoy regular walks and the beach. The Provider’s partner is a tennis/sports coach and will be closely supporting the placement.
This Provider is looking forward to helping another service user become a part of the family and realise their full potential in life. They are also offering to take any service user on their annual holidays with them (which are often abroad).
