They live in Torquay and are very close to local amenities such as the harbour, beach , shops, theatre and restaurants. There are also churches of all dominations libraries and a museum, the area is lively with frequent community events.
The providers live with their 16 year old son and they have frequent visits from their older children and  two young grandchildren, consequently it is not a quiet house neither is it chaotic - just lively.
The house has a really warm welcoming atmosphere and it is situated in a cul-de-sac which is quiet however it is up quite a steep hill. Indoors it is spacious with both upstairs and downstairs bedrooms which are all en suite.
There is also a large flat garden with decking, an aviary and a vegetable patch. They have a spaniel dog.

This is a newly approved provider with many years experience of working with young people with learning disabilities and older people. The provider and her partner live in a quiet residential area in a large comfortable house with their three dogs.  A young woman has recently moved in and has settled well.

The house is on three levels with two bedrooms on the top floor and two bedrooms on the second floor next to the family bathroom. The kitchen, lounge and dining room and a shower room are on the first floor. A large patio looks out over Braunton and the Taw/Torridge estuary. A games room below has a pool table and art materials to use. There is a long narrow garden with a vegetable plot and a menagerie of birds and rabbits.

The provider is keen to start with one person at a time to get to know them well; the young woman has a very active and creative life and follows a personal plan with the provider which includes activities, skills and tasks to do in the house as well as activities in the local community.

There is now room for another person to move in and join the family; this could be anyone with learning disabilities who enjoys an active lifestyle or an older more able person who enjoys an outgoing home life.

This provider is very experienced in supporting adults with a learning disability, both in the community and in residential settings. She has undertaken a considerable amount of training and has skills and knowledge in working with people with autism, communication difficulties and health issues such as epilepsy.

She lives with her husband and grown up son in a large bungalow in Illogan Highway. It is tucked away from the main road and has a large garden looking up towards Carn Brea.
They have two rescue dogs – black and white collies – who love attention. The house is bright and spacious and all on one level. It is very close (walking distance) to Morrison’s and the leisure centre which has a large swimming pool. The bus stops for Redruth, Camborne and Truro are a few yards from the house.

This provider could support a wide range of needs but is quite interested in supporting people to develop independent living skills with a view to helping them move on to more independent living. Between them, family members enjoy walking, cycling, squash, running and swimming. Also theatre trips, cinema etc.
 
They have a daughter and baby grand daughter nearby who often pop in to visit.

The household members live a busy lifestyle consisting of trips out and about in Devon (and further afield). Hobbies include going to air museums, bowling, knitting, trips to see shows at the theatre, joining in local events and going out for meals.

The household consists of the provider, her partner and two female service users. They would like to offer a short break to a female who would like regular breaks in the countryside and will enjoy joining in lots of different activities.

The bedroom and bathroom are on the first floor of the property so will preclude anyone with limited physical mobility.

This could be ideal for a young person or indeed anyone who was interested in developing or re-visiting independence skills. The provider has a lot of experience within the fields of older people, learning disability and people with mental health problems. She is very adept at building self esteem and she is resourceful regarding researching activities to assist and support anyone she cares for.

There are already 2 male service user (60ish), one with a mild learning disability who has been there for a couple of years and he is very happy, having gained a lot of new skills and increased independence, and one with more profound needs. Other members of the household include a teenage daughter and an older son. It is quite a lively house than can be full of chatter and people coming and going, but it also has its quiet times and there is always the opportunity for some quiet time.
There is a garden front and back and there are pets, two cats and a dog. The provider’s husband is always building or fixing something so there is plenty of scope for being outside watching or lending a hand if interested. Other hobbies within the household include reading, watching TV, socialising, walking the dog and cooking.

Anyone staying here would be guaranteed fun with plenty of stimulation and opportunities to be out and about within the community.
