The provider has experience of caring for people in her own home, notably in supporting those with physical disabilities as well as some experience in learning disabilities and dementia. The property has various physical disability aids including a wet room. She lives with her husband and son.

Any service user would need to be an animal lover as the household includes 4 dogs, 2 cats, a budgie, chickens and goats.

She lives in Bideford with her husband and a male service user who has lived with them for a year and has settled well. The provider has a large, close extended family with children and grandchildren who often visit the house.


Bideford is a busy town and there are bus links from the provider’s house into the town centre. She is keen to support someone who would like to live in a relaxed environment and gain her support to live a fulfilled and varied lifestyle. This provider has the experience to be able to support someone with high care and support needs.


The provider  makes use of the local shopping such as Atlantic village and enjoys going to the cinema/bowling etc. She will be able to support an individual to access local facilities and build up new skills and hobbies.


This provider now has room to accommodate one male service user long term or for short breaks.

Details A very experienced carer and recently approved provider living on a beautiful farm with her husband in a peaceful setting near Lostwithiel.

There are two large bedrooms on the first floor for service users as well as a bathroom and toilet.  Downstairs there is a shower room and toilet, large lounge and farmhouse kitchen.

The property is set in beautiful grounds and gardens and there is a separate building for service users to enjoy any hobbies they may wish to pursue.  Across the field a lake is home to the ducks.  The farm has cattle, pigs, a pony and poultry as well as 3 cats and a dog.

The farm is located on the edge of St Buryan village, which offers a church, pub, post office, general stores, bus service, plus a community house with regular activities.  St Buryan is within a short drive of Lands End, Sennen and also Penzance town centre and picturesque harbour, which provides a variety of amenities, leisure activities, shopping, social groups and a regular bus and train service to Camborne, Truro, St Ives, North Cornwall and Devon.

The house consists of a large entrance hall leading to 2 large double bedrooms with built-in wardrobes, small office area, newly fitted family bathroom with bath & overhead shower, lounge with log burning stove and large doors leading to patio area and rural views

The bedroom available for use by a short break is fully furnished with a double bed and offers satellite TV, DVD and CD player. 

The house is on one level with the exception of one step and there are raised, paved pathways outside the house leading to the parking area.

This lady provider has experience as a support provider to three service users who have lived as part of her family for many years and has been providing short breaks since September 2008. 

There are two friendly small dogs living at the property (although they can live in the main house if a short break user is allergic or does not like dogs).

This vacancy would suit a male or female short break service user who likes an active life, going out, participating in activities or simply happy to spend time at home with the provider, and is also happy to occasionally mix with the family’s three long-term service users.

This lady lives on her own for much of the year as her husband works overseas although her 20 yr old son lives in an annexe to the property and has one large but very friendly dog. She has a keen interest in arts and crafts and enjoys walking.

It is a quiet rural location about 3 miles from Helston and 8 miles from Redruth/Camborne.

They live on a main bus route with the beach only a few hundred yards away: in fact some of the rooms have a view of Porth beach. There is a choice of bedrooms all of which are en suite – and one is on the ground floor. The Provider has a lifetime’s experience in care work and is qualified to NVQ 3 level. Her experience is primarily in care homes and community care for older people, people with dementia and those with physical needs. Her experience and knowledge is such that she would be able to provide care and support to any of the above client group, those with a mild learning disability and younger people who want to learn life skills to be able to live more independently. This lady and her husband also currently provide a B&B service so any carer, family member or friend would be welcome to utilise this facility while their loved one was in placement with the Provider. There is ample parking at the front of the property and there is a lovely south facing garden with decking area.The household has one medium sized dog and they would welcome any service user who wanted to bring their own dog with them.There are two vacancies: one long term and one short term. The short term vacancy is linking in with the new SWAPS dementia respite service in Newquay, although referrals are welcome from any geographical area.

The providers are a family couple with experience as support providers to three service users who have lived as part of their extended family for many years.  The newest addition to the family is a toddler who also lives in this family home.  This provider’s mother and sister are also SWAPS shared lives providers.  There are dogs living within the extended family, but not at this property.

This vacancy would suit a male or female service user who likes an active life, going out, participating in activities or simply happy to spend time at home with the provider, and is also happy to occasionally mix with the family’s three long-term service users who live with the provider’s parents.  They should also be happy to live with a baby.
