An adult placement scheme places vulnerable and disabled adults in the homes of families (placement providers), enabling them to live as independently as possible whilst sharing in normal family life. This may be a long term placement or as a transition to and from other types of care. Adult placements can enable service users to have more of a say about their daily lives and encourage them to be more active in their own community than might be possible in other care environments.
