The provider lives with her husband and their son, who was born in January 2007. They moved into a modern detached house in a quiet cul-de-sac in the Brixington area, on the outskirts of Exmouth, within the last few years.
The provider has worked for many years in nursing. The couple have also provided some places (primarily for people with learning disabilities) through ‘Supporting People’, previously. They have enjoyed helping people to develop independence, and also to move on.
The house currently has 4 bedrooms upstairs, 2 of which are occupied by the family. There is a garden and some parkland beyond that.
Bus routes (to Exeter or into town) and local shops, are nearby. The town itself has the typical facilities and amenities of a reasonable sized seaside resort, including railway station, beach, cinema, swimming pool and college.
The family like to be fairly active, including walking, swimming, shopping, and have enjoyed doing things with people, like bowling. They also like spending time at home (eg watching TV or DVDs or painting) and with family and friends. They like to have some fun and laughter.
Access to the front door is via 6 steps, but to avoid these, the property could also be entered from a path to the side, next to a turning bay, via the garden.
